Stamping Oil Lubrication
Engineered exclusively for Aluminum heat exchanger Industry
INTRODUCTION:
Gen Draw 2231 is designed exclusively for a vacuum or thermal de-oiling process. The drawing lubricant is formulated to vaporize with heat from the formed Aluminum heat exchanger parts. This feature eliminates the need for aqueous or solvent cleaning operation after the metal working of Aluminum. Gen Draw 2231 can be removed in a thermal de-oiling furnace, vacuum furnace or CAB (controlled atmosphere Brazing) furnace.
2231 is fortified with select additives to provide optimum lubricity during metal stamping and forming, leading to extended die life. The product formulation obtains the important balance of proper lubrication during metalworking, yet “vaporizes” from parts in minimal time in furnace to avoid delays in the manufacturing process, and eliminates the need for manual cleaning of components. 2231 is non-corrosive and non-staining to aluminum, copper and their alloys.
• Forming and drawing lubricant
• Oil free, does not contain chlorine or sulfur
Background:
High peroxide and Acid content in stamping oil has been directly linked to the creation of a substance in stamping dies that causes contamination of parts and makes them unusable. Acceptable peroxide and acid numbers have been determined to ensure that stamping oil does not contribute to part contamination. The heat stability test is performed on 2231 to ensure that the oil will not break down and experience an increase in peroxide or acid level after aging in the stamping presses. 2231 is used in manufacturing processes that use vacuum de-oiling to remove excess oil from the parts so that a good braze joint can be formed. The thermal gravimetric analysis is an excellent indicator to prove how well 2231 will perform when used in your process. The functional test is to prove that the oil will not interfere with the formation of quality braze joints or cause any problems with the brazing furnace. It can also show that oil can be left on parts for several days without affecting the brazing quality. You can further verify suitability of 2231 in your process by performing the Lifted dome Height test and Falex evaluation test.

APPLICATION :
2231 is designed primarily for use in light to heavy duty stamping and forming operations of aluminum and Aluminum alloys. Its unique ability to provide “thin film” lubrication, then vaporize with applied heat virtually leaving no residue, makes 2231 an excellent choice for applications calling for elimination of aqueous or solvent cleaning operations. It can be applied by spraying or immersion. 2231 should always be used as received.
